Land Swap Game
Something big is going on here. As various landmarks of interest appear and re-appear along the trails, it becomes apparent that a routine involving junk land, valuable land, water, construction and legislation is making someone some very big money, frequently only in the process. For instance, desert waste land in the Mohave Desert is being traded for land with water, freeways and gold -- one of the richest and easiest to mine gold deposits in the world. There is probably enough gold there to bail the State of California out of the debt that Governor Davis dumped on the state, and that the Saco Legisature later refused to let their new Governator fix.
Then the Yucaipa companies appear in the desert and in the San Francisco Bay area associated with Richard Blum, husband of U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein. Yucaipa is listed on the SEC as a food outfit. I don't know about you, but I can't eat waste desert sand. It sure sounds goofy to me.
Then URS Greiner pops up with Blum and Burton all along that trail.
Now comes Catellus and the sights really get interesting. Catellus brings in Calpers, possibly the largest and most powerful public retirement fund in the US. Calpers brings in San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and California recalled-Governor Gray Davis. That completes the circle of legislative influence. Blum is in there all the way, and he is U.S. Senator Feinstein's husband.
Then, of all places, Communist China enters the picture. Now I admit, Beijing is a long ways from the Mohave Desert. But hey! I did not create these trails. I am merely mapping them. Blum, Feinstein and Davis are along the trail that leads to Communist China and the Cox Report on Chinagate from the impeached Clinton days of infamy.
Now add in the bridges. Blum probably controls URS, Greiner and URS Greiner. That outfit is huge, develops real estate and builds things like huge bridges. There has been a great deal of activity about bridges in the SF Bay area and San Diego. They start, then they stop, then they start again. The San Francisco Chronicle published some stories on the bridges. Well, as long as we are musing about the scenery along the Bridge Trail, let's muse about the fact that URS Greiner is registered with the SEC and the stock market. One might ponder if URS Greiner and Yucaipa had stock value changes in the process as the bridge projects started and stopped, and then started again. And could passage of laws had any influence here? (Is the profit in the "process"?)
Most, if not all, of those bridges charge tolls. Where is that money going?
Some of those bridges qualify for federal money. Where is all that money going, especially if the projects are not completed?
It does not require the services of a rocket scientist to smell a big and covert operation therein. Covert operations and secrecy appear to be a requirement. Could something have been gained in the process?
Obviously, something this big means lots of players. And lots of players means sharing the loot. And sharing the loot means big bucks are required to make the scam worth the risk. And big bucks leave big trails. From what has been uncovered thus far, it appears that clandestine operations exist that will make Watergate look like a Sunday School picnic. How could President Bush and proper federal authorities not have been alerted to this situation? There has been no apparent move to initiate an investigation as of 2-11-04.
Please note that no definite conclusion has been drawn here. The writer is merely reporting what he sees. There can be no law prohibiting printing truth. Conclusions are left to the realm of the readers and investigative reporters.
