Bending the Executive Branch
Introduction
by Forest Glen Durland
Americans today, for the most part, have forgotten history, which may be to their demise. Not so in Russia, however. They still remember the throes of dictatorship and fend off attempts at its return. Standing back at a distance, the Russians can see what is happening to the United States while we Americans sit blindly by. It is the hope and goal of this writer to somehow wake the slumbering Americans before it too late. Perhaps the article below from the Russian newspaper, St. Petersburg Times, will shake you into consciousness. "Bending the Executive Branch" is in the byline series "Another Piece of the Puzzle" by Bradley Cook.
(As an historic reminder, the City of Leningrad took back its old name, St. Petersburg, when it gained freedom in the latter part of this Century. It is not to be confused with the city in Florida.)
Americans today, for the most part, have forgotten history. A few of us have not, being benefited by age. At 70, this writer remembers World War 2, Hitler and Stalin. He remembers the dictatorships that took children from parents. He remembers prison camps. He sees all this history being replayed in America under Herr Clinton.
Americans today, for the most part, have forgotten history. It is a definite possibility that our children are not being taught needed history and instead are being lulled into dangerous complacency. Such appears to be the real goal of Goals 2000, which is sponsored by our lead character today, President Clinton.
Please open your eyes and your mind and read, if not for yourself, for your children.
