DEMOCRATS OBSTRUCT DNC FOREIGN BRIBE INQUIRY
Editorial
At the meeting last Thursday of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, Democrats obstructed an attempt by the Chairman to immunize four witnesses with knowledge of illegal foreign contributions to the Democratic National Committee.
The Democratic vote--coming despite an almost unprecedented Justice Department approval of the grant of immunity -- was ostensibly in reaction to Chairman Dan Burton calling Bill Clinton a "Scumbag."
It is odd that none of these Democrats found cause to object in any way, shape or form to Bill Clinton's attack dog James Carville calling an employee of Congress a "Scumbag" in 1996. On November 3, 1996, just two days before the election, James Carville called Senate Whitewater Committee Majority Counsel Michael Chertoff a "Scumbag" on CNBC's Tim Russert show.
So we can take it then, that the objection to the use of the word "Scumbag" is just a pretext to cover up just how corrupt the DNC really is. The unavailability of 92 witnesses, a list of whom appear in the Verbatim section of this issue, has found its equal only in RICO prosecutions of the Mob. That is what this investigation of DNC bribes has come to: A RICO prosecution of a criminal syndicate.
The number of non-corrupt Democrats can be counted by the number of Democrats distancing themselves from DNC wrongdoing the way most Republicans did during Watergate. Among House Democrats, that number is only one. His name is James Traficant.
