Craig Brown

Early this month, Craig M. Brown, 68, an avid freelance writer and a frequent contributor to this newsletter, died of lung cancer at home. Craig was ill for quite some time but, still, this took many of us who knew him well by surprise.

Craig graduated with a masters degree from the prestigious Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. He was a veteran of the Korean war. Later, throughout the years, he wrote industrial and corporate promotional films, advertising copy, soap operas and a number of interesting screenplays.

Along with being a prolific writer, Craig Brown was also an avid political watcher. When politicians did wrong, Craig could be counted on to warm up the word processor and write a cogent piece that would publicly take them to task. And he did so frequently, both with locally and nationally impacting articles.

But it wasn't all just writing. As an active Republican with a strong Constitutional bent, Craig was very involved in Kentucky politics and always willing to speak up loud and clear at functions.

Craig is survived by Debbie Brown (DebMcB) and his two adult sons, Michael and Mitchell Brown. A lot of us are going to miss the wit and wisdom of Craig Brown. We'll miss him a lot.

Below is a sample of articles Craig Brown contributed to this newsletter over the past few years. Some are slightly "dated" today. Even so, all have a message we should remember.
