LET'S CAUSE A "WIPE OUT"

Lie, whine and demean is the typical political campaign formula of the Democrats. They learned the techniques from their friends, the socialists and the communists. But this year, Democrats are running in fear, so they haven't even tried to disguise their hateful methods as honest issue campaigning.

The campaigning techniques of Al Gore and Hillary Clinton all involve the classical lie, whine and demean. Instead of discussing the normal campaign laundry list of issues, everything that comes out of their mouths seems to be tagged with personal attacks on their opponents. They are shrill and obnoxious, running a divide and conquer campaign based on hate, sophistry and fear.

Historically, politicians have won office using those offensive campaigning techniques. But, those who won office through divide and conquer politics all tended to be the known tyrants of history.

That's what scares us most about Joe Lieberman. He should know better. Lieberman tries to come off as Holy Joe, the Orthodox Jew, then changes his professed political (and some religious) convictions for the campaign. Simply put, a truly religious man would not participate in a campaign based on lies, deception, hate, and personal attacks. Joe Lieberman does. Every day. Even on Jewish holy days.

Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, the Democratic Party, and their sycophants in the media attempt to portray GW Bush as a bumbling idiot, not smart enough to be President. They say Bush has no experience. Except, when one compares the Bush and Gore track records, the out and out lie of the Democrat's campaign position is quickly exposed:

Gore attended three different graduate schools and either flunked out or dropped out of all. Bush graduated from the Harvard School of Business. Before entering politics, Gore was a garden variety newspaper reporter for a medium sized newspaper. Bush was a businessman-the CEO of at least two corporations.

In politics, Gore was but one of 435 in the House and then one of 100 in the Senate. He had no real responsibility and did nothing memorable to separate him from the pack. Bush, on the other hand, was (is) a governor of a large State for a few years-the State's chief executive.

Senators generally make poor presidents because few have any experience running anything but their mouths. Governors, especially governors of large States, often make good presidents because they tend to have good leadership experience.

In other words, Gore better shut up. Because, if this campaign is a job interview-which it should be-his résumé seems very thin when compared to the curriculum vitae of George W. Bush.

We should also remember that the only time Gore was able to actually run a project with a large budget, he totally and completely bungled the job. That was the aid to Russia.(1) The task was to help them develop a free market economy. Russia received a package of $66 billion in aid from the U.S., international lending agencies and Europe. With Gore in charge of supervising the aid, Russia quickly became plagued by corruption, and now has very little grass-roots support for free market economic changes. Most of the aid money was stolen. And today, Russia actually produces about one-third less than it did a decade ago.

Also, it was no surprise when some young liberal info-girl came out with a quarter-century old DUI traffic ticket on Dubya. A trial lawyer, who is also a Gore/DNC activist and dirty trickister, gave it to her. She got used. But she also got on national TV, so probably doesn't care about having whatever integrity she may have had abused.

For all of the above reasons, and many others, it is time we reject the politics of "lie, whine and demean." It is time we totally stomp out the politics of those on the left who preach jealousy and hate and would rule by first dividing us in order to win political office.

We need a political "Wipe Out!" next Tuesday.

Picture the joy throughout the country on Wednesday if we rout most of the socialists. And how about the pride all of us will feel if most of the major radio talk show hosts remind us that we won at least a major partial victory by changing their bumper music to "Wipe Out" for at least a day or two.

We can do it.

Take someone to vote. Then, call your favorite radio talk show host and ask them to queue up "Wipe Out." Let's have some fun with this by aggravating liberals and making our feelings known.

It's time we started causing significant change-and the job of getting that going is ours. We can and should give Dubya a clear mandate. But it would be a hollow mandate for us if we do not also make it clear to all that we want government out of our personal lives and an immediate resurgence of freedom and liberty for all Americans.

(1.) Gore Supports Crooked Communists: #201, Oct. 1, 2000

POLITICS VS. RELIGION

While it is true that we do not like to write about religion here, there are exceptions. This is one such exception, because there were three important events last week that deserve discussion around the country. Politics and religion met again and, as is historically common, religion suffered.

Someone at a private Catholic university in Spokane allowed Al Gore to speak on campus. That got the pro-life Catholics very upset and a couple dozen of them turned out to demonstrate and voice their opinion against Gore's support for abortion. As part of exercising their political/religious speech on the Catholic campus, the demonstrators brought along signs to hold up reminding Gore that "Catholics are pro-life."

Can't have that embarrassment or inconvenience, said the Gore campaign. So, Al Gore sicked his armed Secret Service guards on the demonstrators. Every Catholic pro-life demonstrator with a sign was rounded up and moved away from the area. No one else was harassed. Only the peaceful pro-life demonstrators were accosted. They say they were herded a hundred yards away to a pen that looked like a portable animal corral.

So we see that, under Gore, Catholics do not have free speech-either political or religious-even while on church property. Become too inconvenient with political or religious speech and the men with guns will be sent out to put a halt to the opinion.

And this jerk wants to be president? In America?

If that weren't bad enough, Hillary and Chuckie Schumer actually had women removed from a Catholic church in a Hispanic Rochester neighborhood for praying the Rosary.

That's right! Some idiot allowed Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton, both rabid abortion supporters, to spew their far left rhetoric inside a Catholic church. Worse, these two jerks came out from the sacristy and stood in front of the alter to speak. That, of course, really upset a few parishioners.

As soon as Hillary came out, a woman in the front of the church cried out, "no politics in church!" She was quickly removed from her church by men with guns.

A few other parishioners showed their displeasure by saying the Rosary in both English and Spanish. They were called "hecklers" and Hillary's armed guards removed ten of them from their church.

These people were, of course, Roman Catholics who have a perfect right to worship in their church. Chuck Schumer and Hillary are not from that or any other parish-Schumer is Jewish and Hillary can't seem to make up her mind what religion she is.

No matter, though. Chuckie and Hillary are the elite of society and so can use the force of arms on mere serf-citizens like the church parishioners. Hillary regularly directs her guard force to sweep the little people out of her way. Those not immediately complying to Hillary's wishes could be imprisoned or even shot.

Apparently, to Chuckie and Hillary, the Roman Catholic parishioners have a right use their church, but they can set limitations. That right to pray in church is subject to suspension at any time by the elite. And, when Hillary speaks, all prayer must stop.

The Catholic church has rules against political campaigning in church. Even if some politicking does happen on church property from time to time, it most certainly is not done at the alter. For men with guns to evict parishioners for professing their religious convictions in the chapel of their own church is unconscionable! It should be noted that, if the Pope, a cardinal or a bishop were present, they would have joined the demonstrators-and probably they would have resisted being removed from the church as best as they could.

It seems the people of the State of New York are not very particular about the kind of politicians they will elect to office. These two are a couple of the meanest, most despicable people to ever be involved in the federal government. Their mentality would be better fitted to a third world dictatorship.

As with the Roman Catholics at the Catholic university in Spokane, the parishioners were denied their right to freely exercise their religion "under color of law." Clearly, the police abused their authority.

Some say their ought to be a law enforcing religious rights and sure enough, there is: 18 U.S.C. § 248 states that: "(a) Prohibited Activities. - Whoever ... (2) by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction, intentionally injures, intimidates or interferes with or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with any person lawfully exercising or seeking to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship;" can get a year in prison and shall be subject to civil action. It becomes yet more egregious, of course, when police do the dastardly deed. They can, and should, get five years in prison.

In another matter, I was happy to receive a call from the pastor of a large Black Christian church who is also a lifelong conservative. He had just attended a meeting of local pastors of Black churches (most of whom are Democrats) and said they recently had a major revelation: Black churches are being "used" by Democratic politicians.

Apparently they were upset about all the news photographs of Bill Clinton and Al Gore attending Black churches just for the photo-ops. Also (probably), Bill Clinton does not have a very good reputation in most Christian churches nowadays. Clinton's morals are a world different than what these pastors are preaching to their flocks.

It's too early to tell if this attitude will grow and/or have any significance in the voting trends. But, Al Gore desperately needs the Black vote and it sounds like he may be missing a few this year.

THEY SHOULD OBEY THE LAW

Four years ago, Congress passed a bill requiring them to obey all laws, rules and regulations, just like normal citizens. Therefore, we offer a few selected excerpts from Title 48, Volume 1, Parts 1 to 51 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Revised as of October 1, 1996, for your reading enjoyment.

This is good stuff, folks. Because, if Congress (and the White House) is legally bound to obey each and every one of their petty little laws, rules and regulations, our question is simple: Where do we go to file charges!?

Everyone in Congress is in violation of these "Standards of Conduct." So too are their staffs. On the slim chance this regulation could be enforced, the halls of the Capitol Building would be cleared of all but secretaries.

Of course, those elected to federal office are above all this. They give lip-service to obeying all laws, then totally disregard anything too restrictive. Nevertheless, it is fun to wave this stuff in their faces, if only just to tell them we notice the violation.

We might also add that, since the political types can pick and choose which laws they wish to obey, why shouldn't ALL Americans do the same? On that note, you may wish to send a copy of the following to your Members of Congress. Their reply should be interesting.

................................

Title 48, Volume 1, Parts 1 to 51 of the Code of Federal Regulations:

"This part prescribes policies and procedures for avoiding improper business practices and personal conflicts of interest and for dealing with their apparent or actual occurrence."

3.101 Standards of conduct:

"Government business shall be conducted in a manner above reproach and, except as authorized by statute or regulation, with complete impartiality and with preferential treatment for none. Transactions relating to the expenditure of public funds require the highest degree of public trust and an impeccable standard of conduct. The general rule is to avoid strictly any conflict of interest or even the appearance of a conflict of interest in Government-contractor relationships.

"As a rule, no Government employee may solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gratuity, gift, favor, entertainment, loan, or anything of monetary value from anyone who (a) has or is seeking to obtain Government business with the employee's agency, (b) conducts activities that are regulated by the employee's agency, or © has interests that may be substantially affected by the performance or nonperformance of the employee's official duties."

. . .

"Gratuity or other thing of value includes any gift, favor, entertainment, or other item having monetary value. The phrase includes services, conference fees, vendor promotional training, transportation, lodgings and meals, as well as discounts not available to the general public and loans extended by anyone other than a bank or financial institution.

"Influencing or attempting to influence, as used in this section, means making, with the intent to influence, any communication to or appearance before an officer or employee of any agency, a Member of Congress, an officer or employee of Congress, or an employee of a Member of Congress in connection with any covered Federal action.

"Person, as used in this section, means an individual, corporation, company, association, authority, firm, partnership, society, State, and local government, regardless of whether such entity is operated for profit or not for profit."

So, no one in Congress may take campaign funds or favors from any business or organization involved in anything one of the committees they sit on regulates. Those on committees regulating labor may not take campaign donations, dinners, fund-raisers or trips from unions. Those on committees regulation education may not take donations from schools or teacher's unions. Those on agricultural committees may accept nothing from farm or food processing groups. Those on committees regulating the financial industry must stop receiving campaign funds, golf outings, free transpiration, etc. from banks and investment houses.

Yeah. Fat chance, eh?

Well, that's the law, anyway. It's just that no one on Capitol Hill obeys it. Too inconvenient.

RESURRECT THE RULE OF LAW

We've all heard of it. But few Americans use the term "Rule of Law" anymore for a very good reason. Except for lawyers, not many of us have any idea what that term really means. Worse yet, most of us don't really care what it means, either. The term is just not very useful in everyday conversation.

But we should care. There was a time, before about 1940, when nearly every American citizen knew exactly what the term Rule of Law indicated. And, they often demanded strict enforcement. You should be very familiar with the term, too. It pertains to something very precious to you: Your freedom. And today, we're desperately in need of a resurgence in good old fashioned freedom from government restraints.

One old political dictionary defines Rule of Law as "an Anglo-American concept that emphasizes the supremacy of the law and restricts the discretionary power of public officials. The Rule of Law particularly stresses the protection of individual rights from the arbitrary interference of officials." In other words, when applied correctly, it protects your personal freedom. Not the group rights the leftist-liberal socialists try to push on us, but our own individual, personal rights and liberties.

In "The Road to Serfdom," Professor of Economics and Nobel laureate F. A. Hayek says of the Rule of Law: ". . . this means that government in all its actions is bound by rules fixed and announced beforehand-rules which make it possible to foresee with fair certainty how the authority will use its coercive powers in given circumstances and to plan one's individual affairs on the basis of this knowledge."

Now do you see why we need to know more about the Rule of Law? Because it restricts the discretionary power of public officials.

Well, originally, it was supposed to, anyway.

And yes, public officials really are supposed to be controlled by something other than the vote. It is the "what" that is to limit the actions of public officials that has become foggy in the minds of many of today's American citizens.

In the United States, the limiting factor is our Constitution.

Years ago, we used to say that we have "a government of law and not of men." Back then, we expected our elected officials and bureaucrats to stay within the boundaries set down by our Constitution. That is, Congress was not expected to pass unconstitutional laws, the president and the courts were expected to strictly enforce the Bill of Rights, and your state and local officials would do only those things outlined by your state constitution and/or city charter.

That is what our grandparents expected. All rights and liberties of the individual citizen were supposed to be protected by government.

But, that was years ago. This is now. And things have changed.

Still, the foundation on which the government of the United States is constructed is the Constitution. To violate the words-the intent-of the Constitution, therefore, is to profess a form of government outlawed by the document itself.

In 1928, Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis wrote (277, US 428, 485): "Nothing can destroy a government more quickly that its own laws, or worse, its disregard of the charter of its own existence." Justice Brandeis also wrote that, "If we desire respect for the law, we must first make the law respectable."

From that, we may safely assume that Brandeis also meant Constitutionally legal.

To propose a law, rule, regulation, executive order, or judicial opinion not in exact agreement with the authority given government by our Constitution would also be a direct violation of the oath of office taken by all members of government. It is, therefore, itself a violation of the law.

Furthermore, in "Norton v. Shelby," (118 US 423), the Supreme Court said that: "An unconstitutional act is not law. It confers no rights, it imposes no duty, it affords no protection, it creates no office."

Lately, popular press accounts relate that even prostitutes on the street have a higher believability level than elected officials and their bureaucratic minions in Washington. This is because hookers do not normally lie about what they have to offer. Elected officials and bureaucrats, on the other hand, live a lie in that they violate the Constitution-the Rule of Law-in nearly everything they do today.

"Patriotism means to stand by the country," said Theodore Roosevelt. "It does not mean to stand by the president or any public official, save exactly to the degree he himself stands by the country."

Amen, Teddy. Amen.

Help is on its way.
