GORE LIES LIKE CLINTON

The Vice Hypocrite was on the "Newshour with Jim Lehrer" program last Tuesday evening for a long interview. It was disjointed, illogical and mostly a pack of innuendoes, half truths and out and out lies. Worse, he was allowed to ramble on spouting mistruth after mistruth without even once being challenged to back up anything.

Funniest of all was Gore's contention that he wants to be a campaign-finance reformer. Because, if we had a real justice department, he and about 15 other Democrats would be in prison right now. One glaring fact is that Gore's campaign chairman was kicked out of Congress for illegal campaign money funny business. Al, Jr. should have been, too, but didn't get caught.

Gore has been talking about campaign finance reform since McCain seemed to pick up a few votes spouting his nonsense. The problem is, Gore is just about as dirty as they come.

For instance, Judicial Watch reported March 14 <http://www.JudicialWatch.org>:

Vice President Albert Gore, who Nolanda Hill has testified was a co-conspirator along with Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Harold Ickes, in devising the illegal scheme to sell seats on Commerce Department trade missions (as well as transfer high technology pursuant to export licenses), has now become a 'reformer with results' - when it comes to addressing campaign law violations. Unfortunately for the American people, the 'results' constitute the quashing at the Reno Justice Department of criminal investigations into the Vice President's, Mrs. Clinton's, and Bill Clinton's bribery and wholesale corruption.

That would be enough for a round of prison terms if we had an honest Justice Department, but no one at Justice seems to care. There's more, though. And it gets really interesting now.

On March 11, Gore told the New York Times that he would make overhauling the campaign finance system a central theme of his presidential bid. He said that he learned from his mistakes and was seizing the issue with the passion of a convert. "I made a mistake going to that Buddhist temple; I made a mistake in making telephone calls from my office," Gore told the New York Times. "And I have learned from those mistakes. I have a passion for campaign finance reform, that is fueled in part because of the pain of those mistakes."

Passion and pain, eh? How about confession and repentance?

The Times asked Gore: "What about Leon Panetta saying you listened attentively, there are photographs -- does this trigger your memory?" [The photos were taken in the White House while they were discussing illegal campaign finance tactics.]

Gore answers:

I don't know what is in that particular paper and I can't comment on something that hasn't been publicly released that I haven't seen. But I've said previously that I made a mistake in pressing the limits in '96. I think that we need campaign finance reform.

Gore cannot actually answer anything clearer than that because there is a little matter of a "false statements" law that also applies to him. And, clearly, Gore lied numerous times to investigators.

The Senate Thompson Committee found that Gore had been using recently convicted Maria Hsia as a fund-raiser for over a decade. And, interestingly enough, one of their favorite cookie jars to dip in for money was the Buddhist Temple.

Gore lied about that Buddhist Temple fund- raiser and the national media intentionally let him get away with it. We know that because, back in the 1980s when Gore was planning to run for president, Gore and Hsia (with an entourage) went to the Temple's headquarters in Taiwan and talked support. That's two strikes right there: a foreign concern and a religious order.

According to the Thompson Committee, Hsia was an agent for the communist Chinese even back then and they were targeting (at least) six U.S. Senators: Daniel Inouye, Tim Wirth, Kent Conrad, James Exon, John Melcher, and Tom Daschle. Later, they also included Kennedy, Dodd, Feinstein and others.

Most of the money, of course, ultimately came from the communist Chinese government and their agent, the Riady banks. And, as the Senate Committee investigating the matter summarized:

It is also now clear that most of the fundraising that occurred in connection with the Temple event was illegal -- and that the donation-laundering orchestrated by Maria Hsia and carried out by Temple officials in connection with the Vice President's visit was not an aberration. Rather, it was part of a longstanding pattern of illegality undertaken in support of Democratic candidates in national elections that was established at least as early as September 1993 with the laundering of donations to the DNC in connection with another Vice Presidential event organized by Hsia and John Huang.

(Starting about page 34 of Section 17: <http://www.senate.gov/%7Egov_affairs/sireport.htm>)

But, let's take Gore at his word -- he's sorry for his mistakes and ready to make amends. So, he must also be sorry for all those "false statements" made to investigators.

Therefore, we call on Albert Gore, Jr. to do the right thing: Present himself to all interested investigators, answer all questions put to him honestly and completely (the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth) and immediately make the whole process public.

Otherwise, he's no better than his boss: just another damn liar no one should ever believe.

PROTECT OUR GUN RIGHTS

On March 15, 2000 the White House announced that Clinton asked Congress to send him strong gun safety legislation that will require background checks at gun shows, mandate the sale of child safety locks with handguns, bar the importation of high capacity ammunition clips, and hold adults accountable if they allow children easy access to loaded guns that are later used to kill or maim.

As part of his ominous new political strategy, Clinton is also urging support for his $280 million National Gun Enforcement Initiative to hire 500 new Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) agents and inspectors; fund over 1,000 new federal, state and local gun prosecutors; expand ATF's crime gun tracing and ballistics testing program; and help communities replicate successful gun violence reduction programs like Richmond's Project Exile and Boston's Operation Ceasefire.

"We are trying to send a message, an unambiguous message, to people who violate the law: If you commit crimes with guns or violate gun laws, you will pay a heavy price," Clinton told an audience of lawmakers and law enforcement officers in Boston.

The Clinton administration's plan would also provide $150 million to fund more than 1,000 federal, state, and local gun prosecutors. He also wants 20 gun enforcement teams (more paramilitary squad-fire teams?) in high gun crime areas. These teams will coordinate enforcement efforts and maximize tough federal sentencing laws against armed career criminals and illegal gun traffickers, so Clinton says.

Of course, it is the opinion of the federal courts, most Members of Congress and three quarters of the American people that Clinton lies a lot and cannot be believed in anything he says. And, as can be expected, Clinton is just playing politics in this matter, too. So, it's no surprise that people closer to the facts take exception with Clinton's attack on our rights.

Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president of the NRA, said last week that Clinton "is willing to accept a certain level of killing to further his political agenda. When America finds out the truth about the disgraceful failure [to prosecute gun crimes] it's not the NRA they're going to be calling and asking why." Clinton "had the power to make America safe, and he didn't use it."

The Big Lie technique is alive and functioning. Clinton, of course, is just playing the soccer mom set for political gain. "I want to read you what he [LaPierre] said here just so you'll know that there is a difference here between the two parties and America has to choose," Clinton told another fund-raising luncheon when he should have been at work. Then he went on to punctuate the point with a series of Handgun Control, Inc. (HCI) lies about 13 kids a day being killed and other such nonsense.

In a March 6 national press release, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) took HCI to task for those false statistics. JPFO showed that HCI provided misleading data to President Clinton to the effect that "13 kids die each day by gun violence." What resulted? HCI has gone into a tizzy. Facing HCI with facts drives them nuts, JPFO reported.

Because, in truth, more children are killed by those stupid auto-safety airbags each year than guns, but liberals do not call for registering those things -- and there's a media block on that news. In the United States, law-abiding people use guns 2.5 million times a year to stop crime. In fact, about 3,000 violent criminals are shot each year by honest people defending themselves. The media will not report any of that, either. That information is not useful for Clinton's liberal political arguments, so it is seldom mentioned.

Larry Pratt, Gun Owners of America (GOA) Executive Director, told MSNBC's Equal Time last week:

I can tell you that the President of the United States is certainly eager to take advantage of every tragedy that occurs. And to suggest that, somehow, a crack-house kid would have had a trigger-lock on the gun that the crook in the house had with their drugs and stolen guns -- I don't think so. That's a very implausible scenario to say the least.

Most important is the fact that the federal government has zero authority under the Constitution to regulate personal arms. In fact, the operative text on the subject in the Constitution states clearly: "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." We, therefore, must enforce our right.

Federal judges think of themselves, of course, to be much above the American people nowadays. So, while Congress seeks to further limit the rights of the people, Judges have asked them to also consider HR 1752, a bill that would exempt all present and retired judges from all present and future firearms-related regulations. Watch for Congress to exempt themselves and many federal employees soon, too. They think of themselves as being far above the law, anyway.

A telephone call and a postcard to your Members of Congress are very appropriate now. No wordy messages are necessary. Just say that "I will never again support or vote for any person who proposes the restriction of our right to keep and bear arms in any way whatsoever."

This being an election year, a few thousand such telephone calls and postcards would cause great fear in the people populating Capitol Hill. And, that is exactly what it will take.

MORE LIMOUSINE LIBERAL DECEIT

A few weeks back, a couple of (not necessarily liberal) big newspaper editors criticized me because I notified a "few" people that Hillary was filed with the Federal Election Commission as a candidate for both senator and president. Apparently, in the opinion of some, that was not important information and should be overlooked.

I felt somewhat different about the deal. When "she who would be (unelected) co-president" and continually interferes in government, even hints at actually running for the job, that seems like news. However, that Hillary for president does seem to be a vacant filing in that there is no longer a campaign committee to back it up.

Nonetheless, it looks like there may be a lot of new information coming out on the illegal deeds of one Albert Gore, Jr. and there is an outside chance that he may not be available to run in the general election.

So, who gets the nod on the Democratic- socialist side then, Bradley? He's only a hair this side of being a pure Marxist. Even many far left Democrats rejected him. He's out.

The only other Democrat registered to run is Hillary. She would be starting late, but that's not important. Because, her campaign committee would include 90% of the liberal national media. She would receive nearly unlimited free press coverage -- the media Democratic sycophants would see to that.

Hillary could also have that very same media crowd eviscerate Gore anytime he refuses to be useful. And, it may be very useful to have someone in the White House willing to hand out pardons next January.

Therefore, regardless what the big corporation media writers say, this is something that needs watching.

Then we noticed yet another strange development in the presidential race. In addition to his presidential campaign committee, Gore still has his senate campaign committee active. They say it is now a multi- candidate campaign committee subtitled "Friends of Albert Gore, Jr. Inc."

Judging by the list of donations this committee made, it appears to be used to funnel money to select candidate committees and other groups Gore needs favors from. And that's what it is, exactly: A means to purchase favors. The committee collects big bucks from those needing something from government and then redistributes the money to friends for favors. There are 1,330 individual contributors and a whole slew of PACs listed.

Gore was never very honest, so he has the master of campaign finance shenanigans running his campaign for president. As House Democratic whip, Tony Coelho was the first to raise many millions of dollars in "soft money" for the House Democratic Congressional Committee. This was soft money that would be illegal to donate directly to a Congressional campaign, so this guy used a trick in the campaign finance laws to set himself up as both the receiver of the soft money and the donator to specific Democratic Congressional campaigns.

Most interesting was how he distributed the money. He actually carried around envelopes with one or two thousand dollars cash in each. If a Representative needed a little "incentive" to vote correctly on a bill before the House, Coelho would pass them an envelope containing one or two thousand dollars. Or, if he wasn't sure exactly how the Representative would vote, he would wait until after the vote and then reward the Representative with an envelope for voting correctly. (See issue #154 for more on Coelho.)

Coelho was also kicked out of Congress for that. But, Clinton used him to raise money for the last presidential election and Gore has him as campaign manager now. So, it probably won't be very long until they are caught doing something illegal.

Anyway, also in the mix is the "Gore 2000 General Election Legal and Compliance Fund." That committee has 3,122 individual contributions (no PACs), most for $1,000. Gore 2000 Inc. is listed as Gore's principal campaign committee. That committee has 32,812 individual contributions and a few PAC contributions.

Gore publicly says he does not accept PAC money. But, of course, he lies a lot, too. About the only two things the Gore-Coelho team can be counted on to do are equivocate and play fast and loose with the financing. So, if Gore actually makes it to the November election it will be both a shame as well as somewhat of a surprise.

But, it's nice to know that the Democrats have an alternate candidate in the wings, eh?

APRIL INTERNATIONAL PROTEST IN D.C.

It appears that those American taxpayer funded multinational trade sponsoring organizations -- World Trade Organization, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, etc. -- that were designed to privatize profits and socialize losses for multinational businesses are about to get tormented a bit more.

The last time it happened in the United States was the Battle in Seattle with the WTO meeting. This time it's the "Mobilization for Global Justice" (no cute, catchy name yet) demonstrating against the World Bank and IMF in Washington, D.C. "Stand Again for Economic Justice! Oppose Oppressive Globalization!" is the rallying cry.

The Mobilization for Global Justice is billed as a "Massive Rally and Non-Violent Protest at the IMF & World Bank in Washington DC" on Sunday and Monday, April 16-17, 2000. <http://www.a16.org> Their reasoning is:

A powerful U.S. movement for economic and human rights and fair trade had its coming-out party at the WTO meetings in Seattle. A range of forces who value human and ecological dignity over corporate profits and trickle- down economics came together there. We challenged one of the most insidious tools of unaccountable profit-driven rule, the World Trade Organization, and we scored an important series of victories against some daunting odds.

In April, the struggle continues in Washington DC -- the very heart of political and institutional control over the global economy where the US Treasury, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank are located. They are the chief instruments used by political and corporate elites to create today's unjust, destructive global economic order. The World Bank and the IMF have been quietly writing the rules that keep the world safe for multinational corporations while economically depriving billions around the world.

This should be an interesting demonstration to watch. D.C. is not Seattle. Police there are accustomed to handling large crowds. They will have "back up" police numbering in the thousands to call upon and a well equipped military force on standby, if needed.

All groups will be infiltrated by federal officers. So, it can be expected that the small, trouble making "anarchist" groups will be culled from the demonstration immediately. Then, if there is still even any hint of rioting, the leadership of the various demonstrating groups will be the next ones targeted for arrest. Also, there will be snipers on all the rooftops watching -- and waiting for permission to act.

The "Fifty Years Is Enough Network" seems to be one of the major sponsors of this demonstration. <http://www.50years.org/april16/index.html> Some of their demands include the forgiveness of all IMF and World Bank debts owed by third world countries. They want the IMF and World Bank to "immediately cease imposing the economic austerity measures known as structural adjustment and/or other macroeconomic reforms on debtor nations." They also want the IMF and World Bank to "accept responsibility for the disastrous impact of structural adjustment policies by paying reparations to the peoples and communities who have borne that impact." And they demand that the World Bank "pay reparations to people relocated and otherwise harmed by its large projects (such as dams) and compensate governments for repayments made on projects which World Bank evaluations rank as economic failures."

People are starting to understand that the line between big government and big (multinational) businesses has blurred so badly lately that it's often imperceptible. The captains of industry and finance regularly receive special favors via government passing various laws, rules and regulations. They also directly and indirectly receive thousands of millions of dollars annually in taxpayer money to advance their bottom lines. For all this, all they need do is make a few "campaign contributions" and provide a few other considerations under the table.

The World Trade Organization, World Bank, International Monetary Fund and a dozen other such groups are but the facilitators for most of this political money for favors exchange. In truth, some of it even benefits the people of this country. Most of it, however, is quite costly to the American taxpayer and does absolutely nothing to benefit the American people.

So, there are plenty of reasons for protests. We do not agree with their means, nor many of their demands. We do, however, agree that the whole of these international structures should be either abolished or greatly restructured. And, we might point out, the American taxpayer's money should not be involved.

For a list of the groups protesting, check the bottom of that page at: http://www.a16.org
