ANOTHER WHITEWASH

"Operation Showtime was perhaps one of the best armed police action operations in American history. From the newest in spy aircraft and listening devices to the best armored vehicles available, no expense was spared. Fully automatic assault rifles -- many equipped with flash and noise suppressers -- and fancy ammunition, were plentiful. Many hundreds of assorted grenades and pyrotechnic devices were also available, as were at least four methods of delivering debilitating gasses. Any and all of these things can start a fire." So we reported last September 15 in issue #151.

They used high-tech military equipment against American citizens, then lied through their teeth about it at Congressional hearings. They obstructed justice, hid evidence and destroyed the crime scene. Yet, the attackers still maintain, with a straight face no less, that they were not responsible for the resultant deaths.

Or, as we wrote last September 19 in Issue #152:

"That is, within 52 days, this group of people went from living a peaceful existence, off by themselves, to getting shot, gassed and burned to death. And, the cold hard fact that needs great discussion is that they did not go anywhere or bother anyone to have that happen to them. The trouble came to them. The problem came to their home. And, those in charge of starting the trouble killed a lot of people.

"Really, there is not much else that needs to be known."

The Waco matter was again whitewashed over twice this month.

There was a wrongful death trial, of sorts -- but it was before the very same judge who signed the original search warrant that started all the mess. Had Judge Walter Smith allowed the trial to move forward like a real trial, he would have immediately been put in a very poor light publicly.

Instead, this "judge" pared the "jury" down to but five "advisors" and even then worked to keep all of the best evidence from them. For instance, the "jury" was not even allowed to officially hear (everyone should already know this) that ATF could have easily avoided putting all those women and children in jeopardy by serving a warrant on Koresh at any of the many times he was away from Mt. Carmel. Instead, the ATF played military attack team with a high-risk "dynamic entry," intentionally putting 130 innocent lives in danger.

Clearly, the ATF, as well as the prosecutor and judge allowing that action, were negligent. They risked innocent kids simply so they could stage a photo-op.

Then came Attorney General Janet Reno's offer to former Senator John Claggett Danforth of Missouri to head an independent inquiry. Before entering the Senate (in 1976), he served as attorney general in Missouri for eight years. Evidently, that makes Danforth a skilled law enforcement officer to those in Washington.

But, he is not. Danforth is little more than a Washington insider covering up for other Washington insiders. Besides, one does not hire a cop or prosecutor to investigate other cops and prosecutors. They will just cover up wrongful deeds as best they can.

And, cover up Danforth did. Check out the summary of his recent report:

"After interviewing 849 witnesses, reviewing two million pages of documents, examining thousands of pounds of physical evidence, studying thousands of photographs, listening to hundreds of hours of audiotapes, viewing hundreds of hours of videotapes, and conducting numerous expert analyses and tests, the Office of Special Counsel concludes with certainty that the government did not start the fire on April 19, that the government did not fire gunshots on April 19, and that the government did not misuse its armed forces during the Waco incident. Rather, the Davidians caused the tragic loss of life on April 19. The Office of Special Counsel has further concluded that the government did use three pyrotechnic tear gas rounds on April 19. The use of these rounds did not start the fire, nor did it otherwise cause harm to the Davidians.

"With respect to the government's handling of inquiries and litigation that followed April 19, 1993, the Office of Special Counsel has concluded that certain employees of the government concealed the FBI's use of pyrotechnic tear gas rounds at the concrete construction pit on April 19 from Congress, the courts, and the public. The Special Counsel continues to investigate whether such concealment was intentional and criminally actionable."

One wonders why the rocket fired through the roof of the heavy brick building was not classed as a "pyrotechnic device." At one of the Congressional hearings, it came out that there were over 160 tear gas canisters fired into the main wooden building within a couple hours. Danforth totally disregards these, too. Same with all the "flash-bang" grenades used.

Danforth also disregards the tanks driving into the building as just "opening an escape route." Never mind that we already know from other investigations that the FBI used a tank to smash an interior room in the central kitchen area. There were women and children hiding in that room and the FBI did not think they were suffering enough from the massive amounts of tear gas inserted. So, they ordered the tank into that room.

And so it goes: Cover-ups, lies and whitewash. Today, government agents have a free pass to do just about anything they wish. They can even kill us with impunity.

KIDS, GUNS AND DEATH

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published their annual death statistics last week. And, a funny thing happened on the way to the coroner's office:

Gunshot business is down yet again.

"Overall, 30,708 people died of firearms in 1998, a 5-percent drop from 1997 and a 22-percent drop from the high of 39,595 in 1993. The age-adjusted death rate from firearms was 11.3 deaths per 100,000 population in 1998, a 7.4-percent drop from 12.2 in 1997 and down sharply from the high of 15.6 in 1993."

These are strange statistics, actually. Those on the far left are about to have a fit because these government reports make liars out of them. Every state that instituted concealed carry firearms laws immediately noticed a measurable decrease in death by firearms. This is enough to drive the liberals and socialists positively nuts! Worse yet, the report comes from a branch of the very liberal Department of Health and Human Services.

Anyway, now that 31 States issue concealed weapons carry permits, the trend is noticeable nationally. Because, lets face it folks, crooks don't want to mess with people who can shoot back.

The report was not all good news, though. It did come out of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, after all. So, they had to get their liberal shots in -- so to speak. For instance:

"Firearm deaths for children and teens dropped significantly between 1997 and 1998. 3,792 children and adolescents under age 20 died in 1998 from firearms, down 10 percent from 4,223 in 1997, and down 35 percent from the high of 5,833 in 1994. This translates into a drop from 16 deaths per day in 1994 to 10 deaths per day in 1998."

Ten kids a day is a lot, of course, but there is also a lot not being said here. For instance, if drug related shootings and gang bangers are removed, adolescent death by firearms would be very, very low.

We note with interest that the socialist idiots at Handgun Control, or their flunkies like Feinstein, Boxer and Schumer, never go into the inner-city to disarm the feral little darlings doing all the shooting. No, instead of going to where the actual problem is, they would rather propose laws to bother the normal, law-abiding people. That's one glaring difference between the craven socialist class and real American folks. They are cowards.

About 92 percent of the firearms deaths among people under age 24 were among 15 to 24 year olds. Ninety- four percent of those deaths were due to suicides or homicides. That's our "Great Society" programs at work.

The liberals tell us trigger locks are one fix to stop kids from using guns, but that's baloney. I've seen kids get trigger locks off just as fast without a key as I can with the key. One proper way to make guns safer around kids is exactly the way many of us grew up back in the 1940s and 1950s: Teach kids to shoot properly so they realize and respect both the power and danger of firearms.

Back then, nearly every boy had a rifle to tote around and some of us also had revolvers. Yet, we never heard of anyone being shot because no one ever was.

THE WINNING RIGHT

Last Wednesday afternoon, Rush Limbaugh expertly proved a point we've been alluding to for a few years. That was about the liberal response on G.W. giving the nod to Dick Cheney for Vice President.

The socialists and liberals of the national media obviously didn't want to be seen coming off the starting line disrespecting the Vice President apparent. Yet, they didn't want to get caught actually complimenting Cheney, either. So, the White House war room made up a rather innocuous left handed statement that included the seldom used term "gravitas." Gravitas is a Latin word meaning high seriousness (as in a person's bearing or in the treatment of a subject). The Cambridge International Dictionary defines the meaning as: "seriousness and importance of manner, causing feelings of respect and trust in others."

A more modern use is identified by Bill Safire in his "New Political Dictionary." Therein, he defines "gravitas" as: "political heft; weight or substance as a candidate, based on experience or intellectual capacity, or the seriousness with which the public treats his candidacy."

So, OK, the far left was trying to tag Dick Cheney as being a very serious fellow. Or, maybe they were trying to imply that they do not believe Cheney to be a fun guy. Whatever.

But, Rush's point, which was expertly illustrated with about a dozen recordings from various television talk shows, was that all of the so called "journalists" and politicians from the far left used nearly the same words in describing Dick Cheney. And, all used the seldom used word "gravitas."

Which tends to show, of course, that they are all nothing but mindless mannequins under central control. Still today, the talking points go out twice a day from the White House and all the socialists conform like the good little apparatchiks they are.

It also goes to show that many of these "journalists" and political puppets do not quite know what the word "gravitas" is supposed to mean. Because, no matter which definition is preferred, many of the TV talking heads used it somewhat incorrectly. They just followed orders as best as they could, in other words.

This grand example of a free American press has been going on for eight years. Next year, maybe we'll get some changes because Republicans will not be able to control the leftist-liberal media. Bush will have to pull a Reagan and speak right to the people.

Anyway, the Vice President apparent has some very unique characteristics that will probably be criticized endlessly by the liberals. Up front, it should be known that Dick Cheney might be a low-key westerner who likes to wear cowboy boots, but he is giving up a $1.9-million a year position as the chairman of Dallas-based Halliburton Co. to become Vice President. That's a rather significant cut in pay.

But, Dick Cheney is perfect for the VP job. Actually, he is almost like a born administrator. He started in government in 1967 as an aide to Donald Rumsfeld, working in the Office of Economic Opportunity in the Nixon administration. Later, he became assistant director of the Cost of Living Council, a board Nixon created to control inflation. Still later, Cheney became Chief of staff for President Ford. Dick Cheney was then the Republican member of Congress from Wyoming from 1978 to 1989, when President Bush picked him as secretary of defense.

His wife, Lynne Cheney, is just as well known in Republican circles as he, and has served as director of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The official biographies list Dick Cheney's favorite speech line as: "The first obligation of the federal government is to provide for the national security." That makes sense, too, because Cheney has a lot of solid experience in national defense and foreign affairs. In Congress, Dick Cheney was one of President Reagan's leading supporters for the defense buildup, the supply side economic program, and Reagan's confrontational policy toward communism.

Dick Cheney is a good conservative right down the line. And, that is what will fire up the far-left. We can't really stop that because, except for Fox, they own all of the television networks. And, even Fox gives the idiots a lot of free air time.

We can and should, however, badger the hell out of all television networks and sponsors until they clear the air of the socialist apparatchiks. There is no reason normal conversations must be interrupted by these socialist idiots all the time. It's about time these "journalists" start reporting the truth about government.

But, the problem is, things are going to get quite a lot worse before anything improves. The Democrats know they will be positively trounced in November. So do their media sycophants. Therefore, look for them to pull every dirty trick in their arsenal on the way out.

Some call that political chicanery "rhetoric" or "spin," but it will get much more heated than that this fall. Socialist do not give up and go away quietly. It's time for the likes of James Carville and his buddy Larry Flynt to come out from under their rocks. Which means, just like old times, the snivelers Ann Lewis, Rahm Emanuel, Sidney Blumenthal, and Paul Begala will be recruited. And that means lefties like Eleanor Clift, Margaret Carlson and Jerry Rivers (Geraldo) will become even more nauseating.

On the other hand, that is just the type of dirty campaigning that will insure a landslide victory for the Republicans. The Democrats and their media propaganda purveyors showed the country their true colors during the Impeachment. Most people are wise to their dissembling ways now. America is sick and tired of these liberal lowlifes.

So, let the babbling of vulgar minds continue. They're so self-centered they probably don't even realize that most of the country is laughing at them. Their days are numbered.

BIG BROTHER'S ELECTRONIC SNOOPING

House Majority Leader Dick Armey lashed out after the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution's hearing on the FBI's Carnivore cybersnooping system:

"This hearing has raised more questions than answers. If anything was made clear today, it's that both parties have strong concerns that the Administration is infringing on Americans' basic Constitutional protection against unwarranted search and seizure. We must address the needs of law enforcement while respecting the fourth amendment rights of citizens. Until these concerns are addressed, Carnivore should be shut down."

Kevin DiGregory, deputy associate attorney- general, told Congress that law enforcement had to have the appropriate technology to fight the rising cyber-crime. "Many of the crimes that we confront everyday in the physical world are beginning to appear in the online world ... threats, extortion, fraud, identity theft and child pornography." He also said that a timid response could "render cyberspace a safe haven for criminals and terrorists," where they would operate without fear of surveillance.

This is doublespeak baloney, of course. People can always operate at home with out fear of surveillance. Well, we are supposed to be able to, anyway -- so says the Constitution. But, today, the combination of efforts of the FBI, CIA and NSA have already installed equipment to monitor nearly anything they want on the Internet and nearly in real time. And, already information is leaking out that the information gleaned is often shared with various groups and governments for both political and commercial gain.

Anyway, after the committee hearing, Dick Armey joined Republican leaders Tom DeLay, J.C. Watts and 24 other House Republicans in a letter to Attorney General Reno:

"We are writing to express our strong reservations about a new Internet monitoring system developed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, called Carnivore.

"Carnivore, it has been reported, enables the Federal Government to scan all of the traffic on an Internet Service Provider's network. Although national security and law enforcement are essential priorities, Carnivore has raised serious Fourth Amendment questions. Should the federal government be trusted with this kind of personal communication?

"Consumer confidence in the privacy and security of the Internet are essential for continued growth of e-commerce. People should feel secure that the federal government is not reading their email, no matter how worthy the objective.

"Given the uproar Carnivore has created, and the potential impact reports on Carnivore could have on consumer confidence in the Internet, we urge you to suspend any activity involving the development or use of Carnivore until the serious privacy issues involved have been satisfactorily answered."

When an officer serves a legal search warrant, it must first be presented to the person in charge of whatever is to be searched and the person must have time to read the warrant before the search begins. Therefore, it is unconstitutional -- and, hence illegal -- to place a wiretap or e-mail interception device without first informing the person to be searched.

Those police officers saying that is stupid and unproductive had better study what is legal rather than what is practice. Because, what is legal is what the Fourth Amendment states and how the Supreme Court narrowly interpreted the Fourth Amendment recently.

Anyone intercepting our telephone conversations or computer communications should go to prison. It's either that, or the federal government had better come out and inform the American people that the Constitution has been canceled without our knowledge and permission -- and then be ready to suffer the consequences.
