Y2K DropOuts

Devvy Kidd November 29, 1998

devvy@jps.net

I have been inundated with mail, both electronic and snail, about Y2K or the millennium bug situation. Because I don't have a real job and my time is my own, I have the ability and the opportunity to investigate/research many, many issues that come along. This is what I think about Y2K:

First, no one knows what's going to happen. There are a few factors that will have great bearing on the severity of the problem:

(1) the introduction of the Euro-dollar January 1, 1999

(2) the government's progress

(3) how prepared the American people are, and

(4) the behind the scenes machinations of the world bankers.

What should you know about the problem? The obvious first is that it is going to happen and the world has waited too long to fix the problem. The second is that you are probably going to have your life disturbed to some degree and that degree will depend on you and those in your community. One thing I would like to stress and that is this: Just remember one thing - those people - patriots or sheep - who will be adversely impacted are also the people who can fix the problem. They may not be able to fix it completely, they may have to do with a Band-Aid for a month or a year but they have families, they need medication or whatever and they have the skill to fix the problem.

I am aware of all the testing that has been going on with the big power companies in the United States. There is no question we are going to have black-outs and some could last weeks to possibly months. There probably will be periods of time when you will have power in some areas and in others you won't for most of the day. Power probably will be rationed as will water. However, the more people know, the better prepared they will be and the less the innocent, like your children, will have to suffer. It may surprise some people but there are places in the world where people don't have the luxury of full time power, hot water and McDonald's like we do. Yet, they survive, they live and many are actually happy. I know military who have served in Turkey who got hot water for only twenty minutes in the morning and one hour in the evening, they also had to schedule their cooking time pretty tight. But they made it and appreciated home [America] a lot more when they rotated.

Before electricity was invented, America lived, worked, moved on and grew. No, I would not like to have to use candles all the time or cook over a pit in my back yard. But you know what? If that's what I have to do, then that's what I'll have to do. Bitching and moaning isn't going to change the situation. No, I wouldn't like to have to brush my teeth with two gulps of water or take a one minute shower every other day. But, if that's what I have to do for two weeks or a month until emergency systems are in place, then that's what I'll have to do. Will I die or become delerious if I can't run to the mall or watch the 49ers for two games? I don't think so. Some people will but then again, maybe a good shock lesson will help them to rethink their priorities.

Yes, we who have done our homework are aware of all the UN troops on U.S. soil. What's going to happen with them is anyone's guess but that is a problem that will be handled when the time comes. Americans have the right to defend their family, their life and we know how to do it. We will do it if that's what it comes down to - that's what the Second Amendment is all about. You know it, I know it and the bad guys know it. Period, end of that.

If you own your own business or work for someone, anyone, start asking questions at work. Inquire as to the status of how a computer shut-down will affect the industry in which you depend on for the food your family needs. The workforce of America can help a great deal by just asking questions and making their knowledge available on up the line. People are going to lose their jobs. I wish it were going to be different, but it's going to happen. We can help minimize this through education and becoming pro-active instead of drop-outs. Yeah, a lot of the boobs out there don't deserve the help but we have to do it anyway. That's what makes Americans so special, I think anyway.

Be prepared for the worst and hope it's something in between. Make sure you have protected your assets. While I cannot give legal or financial advice to anyone, I think it's a good idea to have at least 25% of your assets in precious metals - something of value so that, God forbid, it comes down to bartering for food, you will have something people will accept as value for the exchange. There is the real danger of the devaluation of the dollar. Many people cringe or reach the point of hysteria when they just think that their $100,000 could suddenly become $10,000, but it could happen. There is a real and genuine concern about retirement funds mandatorily locked in by these fools in Congress to the stock market. There's a good chance that millions of Americans will be wiped out in a New York minute when that market goes - and it will. It will be devastating, make no mistake about it. I have a close family member who finds himself in exactly that spot and doesn't know what to do about it: leave it and pray or take a third in loss to get seventy percent out. This is a personal decision everyone must make but don't wait until the last minute.

Make sure, and don't wait until next July to do it, make sure you have a hard copy of your financial records from every single financial institution you do business with: social security, your bank, car loans, mortgages, student loans, bank accounts, retirement accounts, etc. Understand that the fiscal year for the government turns at midnight 1 Oct 1999 to the year 2000 - that's when you're going to see the first real big burp in the government's systems and it can and will be devastating to people on social security, medicare/medical and so forth. If you know someone who is dependent upon these systems, please take the time to get them up to speed and beseech them to put aside as much reserve as they can so they can go at least three months without a government check - this includes military and federal retirees.

A large number of the Fortune 500 companies begin their fiscal year on 1 July of each year. That means that come July of 1999, many of these companies will probably experience complete systems failures and if you do business with them, buy their products, depend on their medicine or a paycheck, become aware of this and make contingency plans. For those of you who have done some research on this, we know that many of these big corporations who employ millions of Americans have waited too long to completely fix the problem and will probably experience difficulties that range from severe to mild. Just be prudent, ask questions at work and from suppliers/vendors.

Financial institutions will be the ones to protect themselves first since they serve the Masters of the Game, the world robber banker barons. But, again, check your checks to make sure they read the year 2000 or they will bounce. I encourage everyone to pay off every bill they have if possible and get out of debt. John and I did it back in '93 and it has felt very good ever since. Retirement accounts, etc - write to the source and get a hard copy of your balance.

Do the same for your children's immunization records, school history - grades for your college student [like my daughter will do]- a transcript by next summer tops. If you're planning a serious operation of some sort, you might want to get it done within the next three months at the latest. That way you'll be on your feet, hopefully won't need medication and will be ready just in case some of the worst case scenarios erupt, i.e. the big inner cities most likely will have rioting and widespread civil disobedience. This is exactly what the shadow government wants because they need to declare a state of national emergency or martial law to make their move for our guns. By educating our communities, we can foil their plans. Sure, we can't reach everyone and quite honestly, I wouldn't walk the streets of some inner-cities in broad daylight. Does that mean I don't care about the people who live there? I do, but neither you nor I can reach everyone. We can hope and pray that as the date gets nearer and the more we talk about the problem, the wider the information will spread.

By the way and speaking of health, don't forget to have a good three month supply of things like vitamin A & C, your usual regime if you can afford it. Get in shape and shed those extra pounds - all of us! Don't forget extra toiletries like toothpaste, alcohol [no, not that kind unless it's for medicinal purposes!], dog food, shampoo and don't forget the toilet paper! A lot of people are hurting financially so you might want to think about pooling by your family: brothers, sisters, mom, dad and so forth. Each put in a hundred bucks each month from now until next September and that way you can share if times get tough - and don't forget grandma and grandpa!

This is why it is so important to prepare you and your entire family for the worst. This is why I am dismayed to see the end of the worlder's and too many people who have simply become Y2K dropouts. This segment of our society is playing right into the hands of the bad guys. This segment of our society "has got theirs" and the hell with everyone else. There is an alarming trend developing out there: people are running up credit cards to the max and mortgaging their homes, convinced beyond a doubt that it's the end of the world as we know it and they aren't going to have to pay back any of their debts because the whole country will go nuts. Interesting thought, but what if it doesn't happen? Just go ahead and screw the little guy by not meeting your obligations because you miscalculated?

Look, it could be the end of the world January 1, 2000. I don't know and I can't find anywhere in the King James version of the Holy Bible that gives that date or any other. The plans for the world are God's business and when he wants us to know, well, they will be no mistaking that event. Should you stockpile food, water, guns and ammo? Yes, you should have a six month minimum reserves of all those items and don't tell anyone if you do or where they are. That's your business. Should you just pack it in, sit back and wait until the calendar changes? I hope you won't. Why?

Because if things get very, very bad, America is going to need every single person who was prepared to help fix the problems, help re-build our nation and most of all, America will need leadership. Now isn't the time to drop-out, now is the time to really push educating our friends, neighbors, people at church, the union hall or where ever. Sure, there will always be those who don't want the truth, those who will not believe anything until the roof caves in on their heads and those who are out there to scam innocent people instead of trying to share our knowledge and solutions.

I have read all the web sites from Dr. Gary North, Mr. Doomsday, to the "experts" in the government who poo-poo any idea that their silly empire won't be anything other than operative. We should have real concerns about the Department of Defense and the military machines in Communist China, Russia, Israel and other nations who probably won't be computer compliant. But, again, we should remember, that this is sorta like the MAD scenario: mutually assured destruction - even the bad guys want to keep their butts intact.

In the end, it will be each man and woman for himself and his own if we have a complete breakdown and anarchy begins. Personally I don't want to see this happen. I don't want to see my country look like Beirut or Bosnia. I want to see my fellow Americans be prepared for worst, hope it's something in between. I want to see my fellow Americans continuing with our efforts to fix the problems of our nation instead of tuck tail and run.

This computer problem will probably start belching the first quarter of 1999. Americans will probably start getting doses of problems and awareness will build as will the efforts to at least minimize the problems until permanent solutions can be made with all the computer systems. We know there isn't enough money in the world to fix all the computer problems. We know that the hundreds of millions of dollars some companies must spend to fix the problem is maintenance dollars that create no new jobs and will result in lay offs. Most of us weren't alive during the "Great Depression" engineered and executed by the world bankers, but hopefully, we have learned from history.

America has suffered some incredibly trying periods in our history. We have prevailed, we have won most of the battles. I believe in my heart that America will be put through a trial such as none of us have never known before but that we will win - we won't win though if everyone runs to the mountains and stakes a claim to their own little square patch. Now people like Gary North will tell me that I'm in a state of denial and don't believe what's coming. Now there's a hoot. Yes, come January 1, 2000, America could go into utter and complete blackout, no electricity, no food, rioting, looting, raping and killing. Americans killing Americans. It could happen. Do you want to see this happen just so we can wag our fingers in someone's face and say, "I told you so!" I hope not.

We can minimize the effects of most of this - not all of it - by continuing to educate, prepare ourselves and our families. Those who refuse to listen will pay the price. Unless Almighty God says otherwise, there will be a tomorrow and we must be strong to face tomorrow. I used to say there is no place to hide from the new world order. Now I say there is no place for the new world order to hide. The world is now fighting back against this effort towards a totalitarian nightmare. I still say education is critical but knowledge isn't worth much if we keep it to ourselves. The lessons of history are there for us to remember, both the good and the bad. There are elderly, our children and good, decent Americans with a variety of mobility and medical problems that will be the first casualties. But we can help minimize this by fighting back now, not moving to Belize or New Zealand and not by moving out into the middle of the desert or a mountain top -boy, what a target for someone with enough firepower....

Yes, I know - trying to reach a whole lot of brain dead Americans out there is frustrating. Ask me, I've been doing this seven days a week for about seven years. But I keep doing it because I keep finding just one more American who does care about our country, who wants to see the problems cured instead of just treated. Yes, I do wake up every morning feeling like I'm emptying the ocean with a teaspoon but I do it anyway.

I have to, you know why? Because millions before me got up in jungles or on beaches half way around the world or at Valley Forge and they fought and they died. They did it for US, for all America is and for all we will stand for in the future. Are we any better than they were that we should just drop-out and say the hell with it? Every day for 27 years my husband, whether he felt like it or not, got up, put on his uniform and took the chance that that day wouldn't be the one in which he had to give his life for this country. He would have done it, it might have happened while he was in Viet Nam. He was one of the lucky ones. John came home and he came home in one piece. Now we should just say the hell with it, the hell with all the sacrifices made by Americans throughout our history because a computer bug for heaven's sake, is going to whip us? Not me. Bug or banker, I will fight.

There are several good books out on the market that give sound guidelines about how to be prepared for Y2K and you might want to pick up one or two and read them. But, please, don't just drop-out and forget that America will still be here and she will desperately need leadership and cooler heads, if and when the situation deteriorates to a dangerous level. Don't forget to tell ten people to tell ten people to tell ten people. I told our neighborhood watch newsletter folks and they have started the ball rolling. It's up to us to take the bull by the horns and protect our neighborhoods and our country. mstamos@home.com --- devvy@jps.net (devvy)
